About Us

St. Raphael School is a Catholic Elementary school offering programming from Kindergarten to Grade Eight. We are proud to be launching Full-Day Kindergarten and Early Learning Programs beginning in September 2010. We also provide a variety of special education services, both in specialized classes and in regular classrooms.

Academic excellence is part of the St. Raphael School tradition. Our teachers have access to the most current resources and learning materials, allowing them to provide the very best programs possible. Our strong E.Q.A.O. test results are evidence of the success of our research-based approach to student instruction.

Media Literacy & Technology

Media literacy is integrated into the way we teach and learn at St. Raphael School. Our students build 21st century skills through access to technology and digital tools. Students in Grades 4 to 6 learn using iBooks and those in Grades 7 and 8 have access to MacBooks. (Read more about the Learning with Laptops programs) Teachers use SMART Boards to create an interactive learning experience. Assistive technology is also available to students who require it.

St. Raphael students have many opportunities to build and maintain physical fitness, through daily physical activity, intramural sports and interschool sports. Our volleyball, basketball, floor hockey, badminton, hockey, soccer and track & field teams have enjoyed success at competitions with other schools in our region. More information can be found on our Athletics page.

Students who have a particular talent or interest can choose from our First Robotics League, Student Council, Heritage Fair, Public Speaking, Science Fair, Spelling Bee, Recycling Club, Math Challenge, Concert Band, Choir or private piano lessons offered on-site.

Our Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do at St. Raphael School. This is reflected in the way we treat one another (i.e. our Bully Free policy), our prayer life, our relationships with charitable organizations in the Sudbury community, our Roots of Empathy program and our religious celebrations. We aim to create a safe and inclusive environment based on Catholic values and teach. Our Faith page provides details about this aspect of our life at St. Raphael School.

As part of our school board’s voluntary self-identification initiative, St. Raphael School offers the option of taking either Native Language or French As A Second Language classes. We have a very diverse population and we encourage all students to celebrate their unique identity in a variety of ways. Please visit our Aboriginal Education page to learn more.
